The Task Force established in 1997 as part of the Healthy New London Project. We have evolved into a regional collaboration representing organizations and individuals dedicated to increasing awareness of the importance of early detection.
The mission of the task force is to increase awareness of breast health; increase the number of women who receive a yearly mammogram; increase awareness of community resources. Our objectives include: enhancing outreach and education efforts in our communities to reach all women, and increasing collaboration among community agencies and individuals. Our goal is for all women to survive breast cancer through early detection until a cure is found.
We sponsor breast health awareness events at a variety of different venues and locations throughout the year. One of our major activities is “IN THE PINK,” an annual art exhibit to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Opening reception is held in October located in downtown New London.
